Finally . . . tonight we have a more normal campground.
And . . . Dave's long legs are back again!
Today we traveled from Pecos, Texas to Ranger, Texas on I-10 and then on I-20. You may recognize some of the towns we went through . . . Odessa, Midland, Abilene. Do you know that Midland was so named because it is half way between El Paso and Fort Worth? The oil boom began in Odessa and Midland in the 1920's. Before that, they were quiet farming communities. Odessa was named by Russian railroad laborers because the landscape reminded them of their homeland. Abilene was named for its Kansas namesake and they were both cattle boom towns. Now . . . just try to get that song about Abilene out of your mind! :-)
