"The beauty and intense blue of Crater Lake have awed people for generations." That's the first sentence in the National Parks pamphlet . . . and the pictures don't do that "intense blue" justice. It is just incredible.
And this is the view of Wizard Island from the other side. See? No snow on this side. Crater Lake is filled with rain and melted snow. It is 1,943 feet deep and that makes it the deepest lake in the United States and one of the deepest in the world. Gold prospectors found the lake in 1853. It became a National Park in 1902. It is one of the purest and pristine lakes in the world.
