Elk in Estes Park

Just a few pictures of our elk-viewing Saturday evening at Estes Park. There are several meadows that they tend to show up at about twilight. The first night, we didn't see any at the meadow closest to our campground. When we went to the Visitor's Center, the gal told us which meadow she had heard they were at, and sure enough, they were. Lots of cars were lined along the road, but it didn't seem to faze them.

This is the meadow closest to our campground. It was a very large herd there on Friday night. On Saturday morning when we were leaving town, we saw several right in town, but I couldn't get my camera to open and it needed new batteries! There was traffic behind us, so we couldn't stop.
