We're spending more time in Colorado and here's why. Colorado State Parks (which is where we prefer to stay rather than private campgrounds) charges a $6.00 per day entrance fee for each vehicle -- and that really doesn't set well with us. Someone who tows a fifth wheel or trailer in only pays for one vehicle, because only one is motorized. But a motorhome with a tow pays for two vehicles because each has a motor. So -- to try to avoid paying $12.00 for each and every visit to a Colorado State Park (above the cost of the campground fees), we purchased the annual pass for each vehicle for a total of $85.00. So, now we figure that we only have to stay seven nights to get our money back and the rest are essentially "free" and that will go until October, 2009. Since we usually make a trip up through Colorado in the Spring and again in the Fall, we will still get our use out of the Passes next year through October.
