You may have already heard our story about trying to drive down to a marina with the kayak on the top of the tow vehicle. It seems that any watercraft entering a marina has to be inspected for mussels which are really an invasive problem now for all lakes and rivers. So, first we tried to drive down to Wahweep Marina and learned about the inspection procedure even though we had no intentions of putting the kayak in the water. It was on top of the car and had to be inspected. There was only one lane open at that entrance, and cars were lined up behind us, so we opted to turn around.
This is the second marina area that we tried . . . Antelope Point. That is run by the Indians and when we told the young gal that we just wanted to drive around and that we weren't putting the kayak in the water, she told us she'd give us the permit to put on our dash because we could be stopped and asked for it. All this and thank goodness we had our Golden Eagle Passport because that saved us $25.00 at each entry station!

And this is the "Green" Permit that saved us a mandatory court appearance, up to 6 months in jail and a $5,000 fine! And we did get stopped by a Park Ranger and when we held up the permit, there was no problem . . . thankfully!
I wanted to take a picture of him to remember all of this, and he didn't want that Park Ranger seeing us doing that, so he was trying to hide it!
Love all the swirls on the rocks from the water erosion so many years ago.
