Here we are shortly after we left Ely, Nevada, this morning -- road construction! We will have to say, though, that the roads we have taken out of Las Vegas have been in great condition. They were just widening the shoulders here, the flagman told Dave. Oh, yes, the second Blackjack dealer yesterday told me that every thing would be full in Ely next weekend because of "the race." When I asked him about it, it is something like The Silver State Classic. They close Highway 93, the one we were on on Sunday, for 90 miles, and all of these classic cars (Corvettes, Lamborghini's, etc.) come and participate and they can drive as fast as they can with no speed limit. He said the fastest speed last year was over 220 mph. We wondered, because we saw a couple of signs on the road that it would be closed on May 17th, and we couldn't figure out why!
These are the still snow-capped Ruby Mountains. On the other side of them is Elko, Nevada. We had a very scenic drive today. This part of northeastern Nevada and southwestern Idaho is beautiful. We just rode along -- there was no radio reception, no cell service, and I just listened to my iPod. It was great!

These are springs flowing down into the Snake River. We passed one campground right on the river that was called 1000 Springs, so I guess there may be that many!
