Harry and David's - Part 3 - Popcorn!

Harry and David makes a lot of popcorn.  This is the big popcorn hopper.  To the left is a machine that gets rid of all the unpopped kernels and hulls.

We were happy to find out that they only use popcorn from Nebraska after they had tested many different brands.

The popped corn then goes into the tray conveyor that you can see on the left.

The trays go up and over and back and dump into the holding hopper.  The operator then has to release it into the mixer.  They make all types of Moose Munch.  They all start with popcorn and a hot caramel coating.  Today, the were making s'mores, so graham crackers were also being added to get mixed in.

The hot mixture is then dumped on a conveyor, and goes on over to have marshmallows, nuts, chocolate covered popcorn or whatever is needed for the type they are producing.

The Moose Munch Department stays very busy because they sell a lot of it!
