~ Up, Up and Away ~
This balloon greeted us as we left the valley this morning. This is the first balloon we've seen this fall, so we hope it was a good omen. We were headed up to Flagstaff to catch I-40 East, but we changed our minds at Camp Verde and headed east on the "backroads" route.
Well, the Itinerary does call for us to go to Albuquerque, so we made a right turn onto old Route 66 (love that song!) to get our kicks.
After we gassed up at Flying J in Winslow, we headed east to Albuquerque on I-40, but when we saw these clouds and the vehicles going westbound with their lights on, we decided to turn on the Weather Band. We were advised that there was the possibility rain, strong winds, water flowing across the highway and the dreaded HAIL! So, we just turned around at the next exit and headed the 6 miles back to Winslow to go north through the Navajo Reservation. There was even another storm on west of Winslow, but we managed to dodge them both. We don't want to get our white CRV hail damaged, too!
