After we left the Crossroads Restaurant in Early, IA, Dave decided to check the tires on the motorhome because he had noticed that the left rear outside dual was low. When he tried to check the inside dual with the tire gauge, it didn't show any air pressure. So he thumped it and could tell something was wrong. About 2 blocks down the main street from the restaurant was a "service station," but they didn't sell any gas, just worked on vehicles. Dave asked if the guy could check the inside dually, and he wasn't too happy (because they are very heavy and it is a lot of work to get both of the tires off), but he did. Dave just used the jacks to lift the motorhome on that side, so that made it easier. That bolt is what he found inside the tire and who knows how long it had been in there or where we had picked it up. So, the outside dual was carrying the entire load on that side -- not good! But it was truly a case of being in the right place at the right time because that shop could work on tires and they are used to it being that they are in a farming area with lots of large equipment around. And . . . we didn't have to drive a long distance to a tire shop or call for a tow to who-knows where. It only took about 40 minutes, so it was all good.

Many barns in Iowa have a quilt block painted on them. This is not one of the prettier ones, but it was one that I could quickly snap a picture of. We don't know what the significance is. Sorry!
We are beginning to see some corn harvest in Iowa.
This picture is from Sunday, September 26th. It is the only picture that either one of us took in Waterloo. We were leaving and on our way out, there was an Eagles Lodge which was having an old car show.
