When we were in Port Townsend and Sequim, we began to see these pamphlets about Twilight, which we found out (when talking to Ryan, actually) that there was a movie filmed in this area. There are four (?) books now about the characters (the movie is about teenage vampires?) and this was a movie based on one of the books. The whole North Olympic Peninsula is a twitter about Twilight. There are complete stores that have the merchandise, along with many other stores. We took some photos in Port Angeles as the pamphlet told us we just had to do, and then when we got to Forks, we took more!
These two little deer on our way to Forks (on a very small road from that campground looking out at the Strait) look startled by a very big motorhome. I don't think too many people went the way that we did -- most of them probably went back the way they came to get back to the main road (Highway 101).
The lady at the Visitors Center in Forks filled us in quickly on the movie experience. The author is from Phoenix and just picked this area as the background for her story. But even though it was based in this area, the film wasn't shot here. According to her it was shot in Portland. This red pickup apparently is important in the movie.
