After we left Payson, we passed a DPS car that had his lights blinking, but he was quite a ways ahead of this unit. The officer had one hand out the window and was doing a pushing motion, but there was also a road to our right and since we couldn't yet see this big unit, we both pointed over at the road while looking at the officer knowing that if we went down that road we would never get turned around and yet not able to see why he was motioning. Then he put both of his hands out the window and made the pushing motion and we could finally see what was coming, so, indeed, we did move over!
We took the road to Big Lake that goes through the Indian Reservation and the Sunrise Ski area. In all of our 44 years in Arizona, this road was the shortest route to Big Lake, but it was also a gravel road most of the way so that meant it was washboardy and dirty. They now have it paved all of the way to Big Lake and it cuts off quite a few miles.
