We decided to go to downtown Denver since we hadn't been there for a long, long time! Waaaaaayyy back in the 1960's, it was a regular downtown street with all of the multi-storied stores where you shopped. I just loved going to The May Company and Denver Dry Goods and other big stores that I can't remember the name of. Now, all of the big stores have moved out to the malls and they have converted the street by closing it to regular traffic and you ride buses or walk. First of all, we had to find a parking place. Driving downtown is not easy -- many one way streets and many streets running like our Grand Avenue does and intersecting with two other streets at a time. Dave was glad to park and walk!
This tower used to be the highest building in downtown Denver -- the Daniels and Fishers Tower. It used to be a real treat to go up there and look around! There used to be a department store, too, but now they have left only the tower.
We took one of the mall buses up to Union Station. Dave used to come in here on the train when he was on leave.
The inside of the building is pretty much as he remembers it. Aren't the backs high on those seats? There is even a light in the top part so that you could read, I guess.
