Digging for Diamonds - Part 2

The ranger had a sample of 3 diamonds -- white, yellow and brown. Approximately 3 are found each day. All of these were around 1/4 point (which is about 1/4 carat). I checked at a jewelry store in town and they wanted $10.00 per point for an uncut diamond. That would have made each of these about $250.00 -- not worth it to me to even buy one because they weren't that pretty and then you'd have to have it cut and set.

Instead of using the dry sifting method we were using, you could use the sluice method of washing what you had found in water. Looked too messy to me! This man found a really nice piece of ____________ (I can't remember the name of the stone!) the ranger told him.

This was our beautiful campsite at Crater of Diamonds State Park. They had just refurbished the park and it had reopened this summer.
