This is where we stayed out first night out. It is about 24 miles north of Dolores, Colorado, which is north of Cortez, Colorado (in the southwest part of Colorado not too far from Four Corners), and it is about a nine hour drive from home. Someone had told Dave what a beautiful campground it was -- and some of the spaces were really very nice, but they were people from Texas and Arizona who must spend the whole summer there!
This is the Dolores River and those people camped on the other side had to drive over a bridge to get there -- and it wasn't real wide!
This is the Rock Pile at Priest Gulch Campground. You can paint a rock with your name and date on it. Some of them were really artistically done and we enjoyed looking at them. It reminded us of the port in Skagway where the ships all paint their logo and name and date that ship first came into Skagway.
