NRA Camping

This is where we camped Saturday night -- the National Rifle Association Whittington Center about 10 miles southwest of Raton, NM.

This is how it looks as you enter the complex. The building to the left is where you check in, but the driveway leads you under the roof which has a very low clearance. The guard was waving and pointing for us to go to the left of the building where they have built a road out around the "guard shack." Note the flags.

Yep -- it was really windy as you can tell from the flags flying straight out!

This is a statue called "The Scout" as part of the Santa Fe Trail goes through their property. The pronghorn antelope are almost oblivious to people and even the gunshots don't bother them as they know somehow that they are on a preserve, I guess!
